Charge of the Light Brigade

Charge of the Light Brigade is a Poem written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson in his book of the same name.  This poem explains the bravery and discipline of the 19th century British army and the cost of unnecessary conflicts between the European powers at the time.

This Poem tells about one of the many battle fought in the Crimean war.  It was a war fought by the Britain and the France allied with the Ottoman Empire against Russia invading the Ottoman territory.  This wasn't a war caused by a disastrous event or a war fought for any gain.  This war was caused by two years of blunder by the diplomats between the European powers that broke out into a large issue of prestige for every nation in it.

The Britain and France doesn't wanted the Russian empire to gain more land in the south at the of Ottoman empire which started weaken and break apart due to tensions between different ethnic and religious groups within the empire.  This war sent the Ottomans to near bankruptcy.  Though Russia was defeated in it, none of the powers had anything in this conflict.

The poem named "the Charge of the Light Brigade" was written by its author six weeks after the battle of Balaclava where the event described in the poem took place.  This battle was a part of the siege of Sevastopol in the shores of Crimean peninsula.  Russian defenders from Sevastopol attacked the port of Balaclava in order to break the supply chain of their enemies.  To retaliate for it Ottoman and British forces where deployed there to face off with the Russians.

The Light Brigade mentioned in the poem was sent to eliminate a group of disorganized Russian soldiers.  The plan was that the Light Brigade will engage at first and within the Russians retaliate for the attack the Heavy Brigade will arrive to save them.  But the man who was assigned to convey the message showed the wrong direction and the Light Brigade rode straight into the whole Russian army.  When the Brigade finally reached, they realised something was wrong, but even before they could ask for what had happened cannonballs swept into them from all directions.  Help arrived in the form of French cavalry who stormed behind a battery of Russian guns and silencing them.  When the cavalry men came to their true target, now its time.  They unleashed their fury and its a slaughter.  Both sides cutting one another down like animals.  The Russians at the Brink of defeat soon met with relief in the form of their own reinforcements.  Until now the Heavy Brigade didn't arrive for help according to the plan.  Now the British Light Brigade was blocked by the main Russian cavalry force from escaping.  They escaped when the French cavalry mounted their own assault and the remaining Light Brigade retreat quickly through the gap created by the French assault.  If the British Heavy Brigade have arrived in time, this battle could have won by the British single-handedly.  No one knows why they were shown wrong direction by the man who was also a renowned cavalry expert and no one knows why the Heavy Brigade didn't come for help.

Even one Russian commander who served in this battled told that the English cavalry men fought with astounding bravery and even the wounded men refused to surrender.

I dedicate this to the soldiers who fought and dead without knowing the proper cause for the war.  I bow down for their bravery and discipline.  I feel very honoured to post this about them.

What Would Happen if We Became Extinct Right Now

What Would Happen if We Became Extinct Right Now Humans have inhabited Earth for roughly a couple of million years now. If we think about our planet as a living being, then one day it can just get rid of humanity like an annoying guest. Here at  Bright Side  we are not going to talk about “how,“ ”why," or “when” that might happen. But what exactly would happen if we all vanished in the blink of an eye? The first seconds after human extinction It would all start with transportation crashing down: trains, buses, and cars would continue until they hit something, and it would all look like that memorable picture of the morning when Sweden switched from  driving on the left side of the road to the right . Except for all the people, of course. It will be dark. Very dark. As the minutes p...
